Deltek Insight 2019

First, thank you to all of our customers and partners who attended Deltek Insight 2019. With 3,000+ attendees, it was our largest user conference to date. On Monday, the General Session dazzled us all with a great opening by Mike Robbins, leadership expert and keynote speaker, and fireside chat with Mike Corkery, CEO of Deltek. During the 4-day event, Deltek covered topics including purposeful innovation, the customer experience, our focus on security and the Deltek Project Nation, our customer base.

After a great Welcome Reception in the XPO, with some cocktails and conversations, we prepared to embark on Day 2 of Insight.  The second and third days of Insight were all about product sessions. The Maconomy team delivered great sessions from a myriad of presenters including Deltek product experts, Deltek Customer Care and multiple clients. Here is a recap of a few of the highlights:

Maconomy Kick-Off

Dan DiStefano, Sr. Director of Product Management, discussed all things Maconomy – focusing on the future of Maconomy and 2020 roadmap initiatives.  Dan discussed process automation, mobile technologies including ICR (intelligent character recognition), native analytics and cloud. Process automation, or Business Process Automation, already exists in Maconomy’s background task functionality and can automate many routine tasks. (Stay tuned for more blog posts on this topic in the future or contact your Account Manager for more information)  If you want to learn more, register for the Maconomy Town Hall on December 17.

Customer Spotlight: Mott MacDonald

Dan Patton, Commercial Manager of Mott MacDonald, provided a compelling session on their Connect Business initiative. He overviewed how Mott utilizes multiple Deltek solutions, with Maconomy as the core ERP/financial system.  Connect Business is tied to key business drivers and benefits for the business and Dan highlighted the partnership between Deltek and Mott MacDonald.  Some key points included how resourcing is the heart of project budgeting and the focus on user experience.

In addition, congratulations to Mott MacDonald on the MVP Award win in the Management Consulting industry category!

Making Moves to the Deltek Cloud

Warren Marshall, Senior Vice President of Finance at ICF, presented on ICF’s journey to the Deltek Cloud and Sam Lippett, Sr. Product Manager of Maconomy Cloud provided an update on the Maconomy Cloud offerings. Warren spent half of the session talking through ICF’s evaluation of moving Maconomy from on-premises into the Deltek Cloud, the objectives and project plan and results to date. Spoiler alert: they are seeing improved performance amongst other benefits.  Then, Sam discussed some exciting roadmap items for our Maconomy cloud offerings.

iAccess for Maconomy

This session focused specifically on iAccess, but with it being such a hot topic and focus area for development attendees also heard about iAccess in the ‘What’s New with Maconomy’ session and the CAC session (read below for more).  Kristoffer Mahrt, Director of Product Management, overviewed the iAccess framework including new charts that are available for extensions. Then, he focused on sharing roadmap items for planned releases in 2020.

Customer Advisory Council – iAccess at Imagination

Richard Doyle, Maconomy Manager at Imagination overviewed the recent rollout of iAccess, and how they increased user adoption with an additional technology tool called WhatFix. Richard reviewed the challenges his team faced before implementing iAccess and some recent results and employee feedback. Then, Chris Challenor, Product Director, reviewed application performance monitoring, release management and database partitioning.

As always, Celebrate Insight did not disappoint. Attendees mingled at Universal Studios City Walk with live music that satisfies all genres plus great food, drinks and dancing.

That is just a quick synopsis of Deltek Insight 2019 from the lens of a Maconomy attendee. If you missed us this year, be sure to check it out next year in Denver, Colorado.
