The Nucleus Research ERP Technology Value Matrix is an annual snapshot of the ERP market, where vendors are investing, and where they're actually delivering value.
This year, nearly every vendor Nucleus reviewed added AI. Copilots, agents, orchestration layers. For most industries, that's exciting. For organizations running high-stakes, project-based work, it raises a harder question: “Can that AI be trusted with the compliance, the margins, and the audit trail the job actually demands?”
Nucleus set out to answer that question—and named Deltek an Expert in both the 2026 Enterprise and SMB ERP Technology Value Matrix reports. The recognition came down to three things: AI capability, user experience, and security and compliance.
How Nucleus Evaluated Deltek's Platform
In the Enterprise report, Deltek was one of only two vendors placed in the Expert category. Nucleus pointed to the Deltek platform — including Costpoint, Vantagepoint, and Maconomy — and called out Dela™, our AI orchestrator, for how it supports opportunity analysis, project summaries, and back-office automation.
In the SMB report, Nucleus highlighted Costpoint, Vantagepoint, WorkBook, and ComputerEase, along with recent AI enhancements in Vantagepoint that surface timesheet anomalies and flag which projects need attention.
Across both reports, Nucleus cited our renewed FedRAMP Moderate Equivalency for Costpoint GovCon Cloud Moderate, along with new ISO 27001 and CSA STAR Level 2 certifications for Costpoint GCCM and Maconomy. The analysts also called out Deltek Harmony™, our unified user experience now rolling out across Costpoint, Vantagepoint, and GovWin IQ.
Why Deltek’s Governed AI Approach to ERP Stands Out
The through-line across every capability Nucleus cited is governance. Dela’s automation runs on operational data that’s already inside the compliance and approval structures our customers rely on every day. That’s a deliberate design choice. Speed matters, but for project-based businesses, speed without control is just a faster way to get into trouble.
Dinakar Hituvalli, Chief Product & Technology Officer at Deltek, put it this way:
“Project-based businesses doing mission-critical work don’t have the luxury of getting things wrong. Compliance failures, missed margins, and cost overruns all have real-world consequences. What we’re building at Deltek is a system of intelligence where AI is grounded in the data and governance that actually matters to these industries. This recognition from Nucleus tells us we’re on the right track.”
What This ERP Recognition Means for Project-Based Businesses
If you’re evaluating ERP platforms this year, the AI feature list matters less than the foundation underneath it. Ask where the data comes from, who approves what, and whether the system can explain itself when an auditor asks. That’s the standard Nucleus applied when it named Deltek an Expert in both markets, and it’s the standard we hold ourselves to every day.
