Simplify Planning and Administration with Maconomy Essentials 2026.2

Maconomy Essentials 2026.2 keeps the quarterly cadence moving with a release that is focused and functional. It delivers a significant step forward for People Planner administrators, advances the platform migration for both Essentials and Flex customers, and maintains the steady progress we’ve been building across every quarterly release.

Here is what’s in this release — and what it means depending on where you are in the journey.

Where We Are in the Migration Journey

Essentials Customers

Customers who completed their tech stack and container migrations in earlier releases are now in the Web Client migration phase, with the Workspace Client available as a backup during the transition. 2026.2 is a prompt to accelerate that migration — the Workspace Client will be removed at Essentials 2026.4, when the 3.x and BI 2025 migration takes place. If your teams are still on the Workspace Client, now is the time to move.

People Planner Enhancements

The bulk of new functionality in this release is in People Planner, across three areas.

A New Web Admin Tool

The new People Planner Web Admin Tool gives administrators a modern, centralised interface for managing People Planner configuration — without needing to navigate the legacy admin experience. Access is granted by default to the Maconomy System Admin role, authentication uses the same credentials as Maconomy, and a new URL is provided at the point of update.

From the tool, administrators can manage:

  • Booking Categories
  • Roles — including user privileges, data limitations, and web layouts
  • Users
  • Resources — including work week hours, common calendars, and categories
  • Settings, project dimensions, and general dimensions

Data Limitations management and pop-up enhancements are planned for Essentials 2026.3.

New Assignment Management Web Component

A new Assignment Management Web Component provides a flat listing of assignments — an alternative to project-centric or resource-centric views when users need broader visibility across their planning data. It supports the full range of web component functionality: searching, sorting, grouping, saved views, and export.

Resource Request and Commit Workflow

The resource request and commit workflow gains several practical improvements in 2026.2:

  • Set tentative status on a new assignment resource
  • Support for both named and generic resources
  • Improved handling of pending and declined requests
  • All enhancements available across all web components

Maconomy Enhancements

The latest Maconomy release includes updates to CAMT.053 for current bank statement processing requirements, and a refresh of the background colour for environment labels — a small but useful usability improvement for teams working across multiple environments.

Web Client Migration: Resources to Help You Get There

The Maconomy Help Centre has everything you need to plan and execute your Web Client migration:

  • Administrative guides for configuring and managing the Web Client
  • Release notes for 2026.2 and all previous Essentials releases
  • Recordings of quarterly release webinars and customer events
  • Dedicated Web Client training materials for end-user adoption

Your Customer Success Manager is the best starting point for migration planning and testing support.

What Comes Next

Essentials 2026.2 does what a good quarterly release should: it moves the platform forward, delivers real capability improvements, and keeps customers on a clear, predictable path. The migration roadmap is progressing on schedule for both Essentials and Flex, and the People Planner administration experience has taken a meaningful step forward with the new web admin tool.

Essentials 2026.3 will build directly on this release — completing the People Planner Web Admin Tool with Data Limitations and pop-up support, alongside further platform and Web Client improvements. We’ll share the full details at our Q2 Customer Town Hall.
