International Women’s Day: How the ‘Give to Gain’ Mentality Drives Shared Success at Deltek

The real energy driving innovation at Deltek has always been our people. This International Women’s Day, we are leaning into the global theme of "Give to Gain,” a mindset that emphasizes the power of reciprocity, mentorship, and collective growth. When we invest in the success of our people, we don’t just build better products and foster innovation – we build a culture where everyone can thrive in their careers.

To celebrate their impactful contributions, we sat down with four members of Women at Deltek — an employee resource group where employees engage in career development opportunities, continuing education programs, and share resources — to discuss the moments that shaped their careers and how they are paying it forward to the next generation of leaders.

The Power of Perspective: Michelle Morales

Sr. Manager, Human Resources — Philippines

How did a 'gift' from another woman change your career trajectory?

One of the most defining moments in my career came from a female leader who challenged how I viewed readiness. She entrusted me with responsibilities that felt slightly ahead of where I thought I was. It helped me understand that growth doesn’t happen after you feel ready, but because you step into situations that stretch you."

What is your best advice for a woman starting her career today?

Remember that you are the architect of your own career. Develop your skills and stay curious, but don’t wait until you feel completely ready. Real confidence is built not in certainty, but in movement.

Dreaming Bigger: Maria Rehnvall

Project Manager, Deltek Professional Services — Sweden

Can you recall a moment when another woman influenced your path?

Very recently, a woman told me, 'You should reach for the stars, because nothing stands in your way'. I remember being taken aback a bit, because I was still aiming for the treetops. That moment made me pause and rethink my own limits; her belief helped me see that I was allowed to dream bigger than I thought.

How has being a mentor or supporter to other women helped you grow in your own role?

I love seeing people grow, and my mindset has always been to share what you know. When you support other women, you realize that you grow too. We’re better together, and mentoring pushes you to explain and reflect on your own experience. That process strengthens your confidence and expands your abilities.

If you could give one piece of 'career advice’ to a woman starting out today, what would it be?

My advice would be to find your people. It doesn’t happen overnight, and you have to be willing to put yourself out there. Ask for a coffee chat, a brief meeting, or simply a moment to connect. Those relationships matter. You want to be surrounded by people who value you even when you’re not at your best — and who will root for you, even when you’re not in the room.

Leading with Collaboration: Genesis Javier

Senior SDR, Global Sales — United States

How has being a mentor to other women helped you grow?

Supporting other women has taught me patience, empathy, and how to lead with collaboration instead of competition. Every time I support another woman, I grow stronger in my own role.

What would you share with a woman just starting out in their career?

Stay open, ask questions, and never underestimate the value of your voice. Build relationships early, lean on the community around you, and do not be afraid to take on challenges that feel bigger than you.

Action Over Perfection: Olga Matasic

Senior Account Manager, Global Sales — Sweden

How have the women at Deltek inspired you personally?

Coming to work from a different culture and background was challenging at first. Having amazing women around me who welcomed me with open hearts helped me overcome the fear of the unknown and inspired me to move forward.

What is your 'one piece' of career advice?

Be confident before you feel ready. Raise your hand, speak up, and don't wait for permission. Growth comes from action, not perfection.

What does ‘Give to Gain’ mean to you in the workplace?

It shows at Deltek in how people lead with generosity — sharing knowledge, supporting each other, and collaborating beyond their titles or teams. A culture where helping others is encouraged drives stronger results for everyone.
