The Power of Purpose & Passion in Our Deltek Community

During the holiday season, we’re reminded that this time of year is more than just traditions and celebrations. It’s also, and most importantly, about embracing the spirit of connection and giving.

While Deltek is known for helping project-based businesses deliver the world’s most critical work, today we’re talking about the most important projects of all — those that support the communities in which we live and work. Through our Deltek Cares initiative, we champion incredible organizations globally, including Blood Cancer United (formerly The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society) and Save the Children. But the real heartbeat behind Deltek Cares isn't the total dollars donated; it's the unwavering commitment and shared purpose of the people who make up Team Deltek.

This year, we’re spotlighting five employees who have invested their time in making a difference. Their causes are their passions, and their service is their testament to building a better future. Here are their stories.

Causes We Care About

Deltek’s Washington Well-Living Committee has been working on putting together a Seattle-area-based cleanup event for some time, and Green Lake, as one of Seattle’s most urban gems and most popular parks, was a perfect place. It also holds personal meaning for me, as Green Lake was where I met my wife, and spending some time there with Deltek colleagues, cleaning up the park and leaving it a little bit better than we found it, was a powerful way to honor her memory.

This year, I volunteered with King’s College Hospital to reconnect with people after working remotely full-time at Deltek. I serve as a Mealtime Support volunteer on the Elderly Ward at Princess Royal University Hospital (PRUH), where many patients stay before or after surgery. My role is to help ensure patients receive proper nutrition and hydration—essential for recovery—while offering encouragement and companionship during meals. The hospital’s mission of compassion, dignity, and care resonated with me, and volunteering has been a meaningful way to give back and build connections.

I volunteer with Fryshuset, a basketball club that runs a team called Isbrytarna (Icebreakers) for teenagers and young adults with intellectual disabilities. I’ve been the head coach for eight years. We train on Wednesday evenings and compete in a series three weekends a year with teams from Sweden and Norway. Basketball was a big part of my life into my twenties, both playing and coaching. When my daughter, who has an intellectual disability, wanted to join my old club, stepping up as coach felt natural.

This year, I took part in a tree-planting program at La Mesa Eco Park, an initiative focused on restoring and protecting the La Mesa Watershed — Metro Manila’s last remaining forest and a vital source of clean water for surrounding communities. Our team planted seedlings in designated areas to support reforestation efforts. From the ridges of Tarak in Mt. Mariveles to the sea of clouds in Mt. Pulag, nature has given me unforgettable experiences — so choosing a VTO activity that helps protect it felt like the perfect way to give back.

In August, Deltek employees from the Seattle area gathered at Green Lake Park for a clean-up event organized by the Greater Washington Well-Living Committee. With supplies provided by Seattle Parks and Recreation — garbage bags, litter pickers, gloves — we spent the day removing trash and debris from the park. After moving back to Seattle earlier this year, I now live just north of Green Lake, and it’s become a special place for me and my girlfriend — we walk the loop around the several times a week. Supporting a park that’s central to our community and personal life made the experience even more meaningful.

Every Action, No Matter How Small, Contributes to the Greater Good

Not only do we recognize how important it is for employees to engage and give back, but Deltek also understands how volunteering can greatly impact a person’s health and well-being — by reducing stress levels, improving their mood, helping them stay active and giving them a sense of purpose. That is why we are proud to offer this VTO opportunity to Deltek’s more than 4,000 employees worldwide.

To all our incredible team members who make Deltek Cares a possibility, thank you for showing us the power of purpose. We are grateful you are a part of Deltek Project Nation!
