Exploring the FY 2020 Federal Budget Request

The latest major report coming from GovWin’s team of expert federal government researchers focuses on the recently-released federal budget. The Insights and Implications: FY 2020 Federal Budget Request contains valuable insights for federal government contractors in nearly every industry. This report highlights the administration’s focus on IT spending, and calls out some of the key priorities, including defense and national security, border security, immigration reform, veteran healthcare, and combating the opioid epidemic.

“Deltek’s ‘Insights and Implications: FY 2020 Federal Budget Request’ report analyzes the proposed program investments and policy directives within the president’s FY 2020 discretionary budget request.”

Upcoming Social Services Government Contracts

Kevin Cruz, GovWin Research Analyst, has conducted an analysis using GovWin’s database of government contracts to look at social services government contracts that are expected to appear in FY 2019 and FY 2020. Opportunities within this category are varied – ranging from child and youth services to temporary shelters – and come from multiple budget sources.

“According to the Deltek Contracts Database, the current FY19 spending for social services throughout the federal government to date is $1.9B.”

The Market for Small Business Government Contractors

Along with the rest of Deltek, GovWin recently celebrated Small Business Week as promoted by the U. S. Small Business Administration (SBA). As a part of this event our researchers highlighted a variety of ways for small businesses to open the door to winning more government contracts, including tips for firms with SMB status, those registered as 8(a) government contractors, and those fitting into other set-aside categories.

“If you’re a small business interested in selling to the government, the outlook for your future is a positive one. Your team just needs to be looking at the right markets, and be arming yourselves with the right advanced information from a trusted source, to best prepare your organization to capitalize on the government contracting market opportunity and grow your sales pipeline.”

Strategic Outlooks for Defense Agencies and the Air Force

GovWin has published two on-demand webinars that provide analysis of two of the most lucrative groups to do business with in the federal government contracting market: The Air Force and Defense Agencies.

In the Defense Agencies Strategic Outlook for 2019 and Beyond, Senior Manager of Federal Research Rachel Doherty and Senior Principal Research Analyst Alex Rossino break down the DoD’s reorganization efforts and provide information to do business with the Fourth Estate. And in the Air Force Strategic Outlook for 2019 and Beyond, GovWin’s federal market experts John Slye and Steven Mihalisko highlight the budget outlook, top contract spending trends, and key contract vehicles and government contractors to know about when doing business with the Air Force.

The GSA Gets Closer to Launching an e-Marketplace

Deltek Senior Principal Research Analyst Angie Petty has reported that the General Services Administration (GSA) has recently submitted an implementation plan to Congress to establish a federal e-commerce portal. This marketplace would create a way to procure commercial products through online portals to enhance competition, speed up procurement, and ensure reasonable pricing.

“The proof of concept will allow GSA to test whether there are savings and efficiency potential to be gained through an e-marketplace platform for federal purchasing.”
