Living the Deltek Values – Passion, Collaboration, Results-Driven

65 Roses Golf Classic 2019

By Richie Peterson, Senior Director of Sales at Deltek.

I’ve been an employee at Deltek since 2015, and one of the things I think about often is the culture of our organization and the values that unite and drive us each day.

Deltek has nine values around which our team rallies, such as being customer-focused and playing to win. These values keep us motivated and set the standards by which we conduct business. Some of those values also hit home on a personal level, such as passion, collaboration and being results-driven. What you might not know is how those values feed Deltek’s unwavering commitment to philanthropic efforts—and, in turn, help employees like me be results-driven for important causes outside the office.

Our company supports some pretty amazing organizations including the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Year Up, and a cause very near and dear to my heart, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

My Story

Since 2007, my family has been acutely aware of what cystic fibrosis (CF) is—that was the year my daughter Catherine was diagnosed with the disease at birth. As a family, we have been on a remarkable journey together—helping her fight through hospital visits for a simple cold, cough, flu or something that other families wouldn’t think twice about.

As a parent, I focus every day on not being overwhelmed and still being present for each member of my family. But even the strongest parents need help. To that end, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF) has been life-changing for us. The Foundation helps families navigate what to expect, how to stay healthy, coping while caring for loved ones who are suffering from CF, and offers connections to a community of individuals going through the same thing.

But the CFF does so much more than that. The organization funds research and drug development, promotes individualized treatment, and ensures access to high-quality, specialized care— all to make possible the ultimate goal of curing cystic fibrosis and providing those who suffer from this disease the opportunity to lead full, productive lives. This is possible thanks to the dedication of patients, families, friends, clinicians, researchers, volunteers, individual donors, corporations and staff.

As our family has fought this disease, and benefited from CFF’s assistance, we couldn’t help but also feel for all the other families in the world also battling cystic fibrosis. I wanted to do whatever I could to help others by supporting CFF. We continue to lose young lives to cystic fibrosis every day—and my family will not rest until we have a cure for Catherine and for anyone living with this disease.

65 Roses Golf Classic

I’ve now been chairman of one of CFF’s biggest local events—the 65 Roses Golf Classic in Northern Virginia—for 11 years, helping the organization raise over $1M towards finding a cure for this progressive, genetic disease. None of this is possible without having tremendous support from my family, friends and the Deltek community. And without help from corporations like Deltek, we wouldn’t be able to set record goals like $125,000 for our upcoming 65 Roses Golf Classic at The Golf Club at Creighton Farms on Monday, June 10.

Thank you, #TeamDeltek, for once again continuing to support your employees, their families and our causes. I hope to see all of you on the golf course on June 10—spots are still available! If you don’t golf, please consider donating towards this worthy cause.

Thank you for your support—it truly means more to me than you can ever imagine!
