Deltek and the American Institute of Architects (AIA) are committed to delivering the best tools and technology to help you deliver better projects. Last fall, Deltek released Deltek Specpoint, using the latest in technology to deliver a new intelligent data-driven specification development software to the A&E industry.

Deltek Specpoint is also the new home of AIA MasterSpec®, giving you the best in guide specifications, coupled with the latest technology to deliver high quality construction specifications for your projects. MasterSpec is now delivered in a digital format via Specpoint and improves collaboration and efficiency for developing construction specifications. Here are the top five reasons why your firm should start using Specpoint:

  1. Access the most up-to-date AIA MasterSpec content
  2. Research, select and specify the right products with Specpoint's 50,000 plus building products listings, including sustainable products.
  3. Enhance team collaboration with a more iterative process
  4. Improve efficiency and reduce risk with better quality project manuals
  5. Leverage a more modern assembly-based approach for better data driven decisions

What Does This Mean for MasterSpec Users?

MasterSpec users will receive access to Deltek Specpoint at no additional cost at renewal. With Specpoint, you can digitally transform your specification authoring process and ensure you have the latest version of MasterSpec and building product manufacturing content for your projects. In addition, you no longer need to download and manage separate Microsoft Word files for MasterSpec. You will always have the most up-to-date content right in Specpoint and can easily export your specifications to Microsoft Word if needed.

In support of MasterSpec, moving to a digital format, after the Q4 MasterSpec update scheduled for release on December 30, 2022, updates to MasterSpec content will only be made available digitally via Deltek Specpoint. Deltek will continue to update MasterSpec on the same cadence you have come to expect, however, going forward you will simply access the updated specifications directly from Deltek Specpoint. MasterSpec Q4 2022 Word files will be available for download until at least June 30, 2023.

What Does This Mean for SpecBuilder Cloud Users?

SpecBuilder Cloud users will receive Deltek Specpoint at no additional charge upon renewal of your annual product license. To best support Deltek’s specification users, Deltek has made the strategic decision to retire SpecBuilder Cloud at the beginning of 2024. While Deltek will no longer enhance the SpecBuilder Cloud product, we will continue to support the solution so you can complete your active projects.
