Incremental Improvements Boost Efficiency and Project Visibility for Costpoint Users
With any new administration change, government contractors are evaluating the risks and opportunities their businesses may encounter for the remainder of the 2025 fiscal year and beyond. This is a necessary step to ensure they are prepared to make any tactical (or strategic) pivots that will better position their business in uncertain times. Those pivots can’t be made without access to real-time data and insights about customers, vendors, projects and financials – a key value driver Deltek Costpoint delivers to its customers and aims to expand upon in its latest software release, 2025.2.
Over the past year Costpoint has transitioned to a continuous delivery model for product releases, delivering new features and enhancements over four quarterly releases. Each release has incrementally expanded Costpoint’s use of innovative new tech like AI and made strides in improving the overall user experience -- driving greater efficiencies for both everyday users and finance and accounting teams. In Costpoint’s 2025.2 release, customers will have access to additional Smart Summaries™, expanded capabilities for Quick Entry Expense Reports, and integration for Ask Dela to Costpoint Help. Keep reading to learn how leveraging these new features can help you spend less time juggling financials and more time running your business.
Last Minute Data Calls or Status Meetings? – No Problem!
Originally released in 2024 for Contracts, Dela-enabled Smart Summaries process vast amounts of information in Costpoint to summarize details quickly - eliminating the need to manually search for, pull and compile data from multiple locations. This summary can then be generated into an email or used in meetings to provide quick status reports. With the 2025.2 release comes three additional Smart Summaries for Vendors, Customers and Employees.
The Vendor Smart Summary provides insights into a vendor and their interactions with your business to help make informed decisions on how to best work together on a project. These summaries can be used in multiple ways including vendor selection and negotiation based on payment and delivery history or in cash flow planning by identifying critical upcoming payments. Information detailed includes vendor payment trends, projects the vendor is performing on, outstanding payment vouchers and more!
Keeping leadership up to date on your customers has never been easier with new Customer Smart Summaries. Look up payment history, past communication patterns, and performance ratings, to help inform strategic partnership decisions. Summaries include financial data on active projects to help assess project health and if the Contracts management module is owned can also be used to review top opportunities.
With the Employee Smart Summary, you gain insights into employee records by easily accessing employee information like payroll, leave and benefits. This can be used by payroll administrators to quickly access year to date payroll data like deductions, contributions and leave balances. Benefits administrators are also able to do real-time checks to verify benefits enrollment data.
“Dela, How do I _____ in Costpoint?”
With each quarterly release, Deltek is working to integrate Ask Dela more fully into your daily tasks and activities, with the goal of increasing speed and accuracy. In 2025.2, Costpoint’s digital assistant can now access Deltek Help content and answer “how to” questions.
This capability is available now to On-Premise and Costpoint GovCon Cloud (GCC) Customers and will be available to Costpoint GovCon Cloud Moderate (GCCM) in an upcoming release. With the Help integration you can now explore new features, follow step-by-step guidance, and access direct links to relevant help resources directly in Ask Dela. Whether you're a new or experienced Costpoint user, Dela is your go-to tool for quick support and troubleshooting.
Welcome to the Future of GovCon
Meet Dela, Deltek's AI-Powered Intelligent Business Companion
Have You Tried Quick Entry Expense Reports Yet?
If you haven’t, now is a great time! We’ve added additional options to Costpoint’s popular Quick Entry Expense Reports to make them more flexible for different expense report users. You’ll now have the ability to choose between different expense report types, leverage user defined fields, and add “overall” attachments. Additionally, you can switch to “approval mode” from the Quick Entry Report screen with just a click of a button, allowing supervisors to approve reports in this easy-to-use application as well, speeding up reimbursements. For businesses that are required to create and attach expense authorizations to their expense reports – we’ve created Quick Entry Expense Report Authorizations. Bringing in these authorizations means more users can utilize Quick Entry features to streamline and expedite expense reporting.
Gain More Control Over Project Budgeting
Effective planning and resource management are essential for government contracting success, ensuring projects stay on schedule and within budget despite stringent compliance standards, strict deadlines, and tight budget constraints. Costpoint Planning helps contractors allocate the right resources to the right tasks at the right time, ensuring that projects stay on schedule and within budget. In the Costpoint Fall 2024 release we introduced the spread and fill capability, which allows you to automatically distribute resources across periods. With this release, we’re adding 8 additional spread methods to easily allocate resources. You can now also get comprehensive visibility into pending costs for a clearer picture of project profitability by calculating the impact of unposted costs and quickly determining burdened amounts and the corresponding revenue.
Greater Visibility into Vendor Certifications Like CMMC
With this release, you can define and customize agency or organizational compliance certifications, including CMMC and ASO, in Capture and Contract Management. This allows you to easily manage required vendor certification information, including various levels or statuses, directly in Costpoint. This information is assigned to a specific vendor and assigned to subcontract records to simplify compliance tracking within your supply chain.
Focus on Preparedness and Agility During Uncertain Market Conditions
With increased scrutiny over government procurements, contractor performance is more important than ever. In addition to new features in the 2025.2 release, Deltek has delivered other impactful features over the past year that aid in delivering more successful products and strengthen your organization’s compliance stance, here are some highlights.
Security in the Cloud
Cloud & cybersecurity have been top priorities for the government in recent years, in particular the Department of Defense (DoD). Deltek is dedicated to delivering cloud solutions that align with the needs of government contractors and their evolving compliance requirements. In 2024, Costpoint GovCon Cloud Moderate (GCCM) achieved FedRAMP Moderate Ready status, and is listed now on the FedRAMP Marketplace. This means that Costpoint GCCM has been thoroughly vetted by a recognized third-party assessment organization and can support cybersecurity compliance requirements for government contractors, including CMMC.
The Future of GovCon is AI & Automation
Deltek launched it’s AI-powered intelligent business companion, Dela, in March of last year. Dela brings increased process automation and powerful AI capabilities to Costpoint users to make the entire project lifecycle smarter. Whether it's automating tasks, extracting insights from complex data, or anticipating resource needs, Dela is fueled by AI capabilities to support the needs of project-based government contractors. In Costpoint, Ask Dela can answer your questions, complete tasks, or quickly access information about your projects. With Dela’s Gen-AI Smart Summaries you can quickly summarize large amounts of data.
Costpoint Meets You Where You Work
By bringing the power of Costpoint to the applications where your users are already working—like Microsoft Teams and Outlook—you can save time on daily tasks and quickly access the information you need without having to log in to another application. Customers that are using the MS Teams and Outlook integration for time and expense entry and approvals are already seeing improvements in payroll processing times and in floor-check failure rates.
The 2025.2 release of Costpoint brings a host of innovative features and enhancements designed to streamline operations and improve efficiency for government contractors. From expanded Smart Summaries™ to enhanced expense reporting and compliance tracking, these updates empower users to make informed decisions quickly and confidently as they navigate the challenges and opportunities of the new administration. Stay tuned for more exciting developments coming next quarter!
