As part of its goal to develop its internal communication tools and create a more holistic view of the entire project lifecycle, Biologics upgraded its Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platform from Deltek Vision to Deltek Vantagepoint.
“We wanted to upgrade to Vantagepoint and utilize those modernized dashboards,” Heather explains. “We were originally tracking opportunities and projects separately and we really wanted to be able to view all our projects from cradle to grave.”
Biologics prepared for the upgrade by attending multiple Deltek customer conferences to really understand the benefits of the upgrade. “We'd participated in at least one CAP (Customer Assistance Program) session that Deltek provided,” says Heather. “And we really stayed up-to-date on all of the updates that Deltek was providing for us in order to manage the upgrade.”
With a tight timeline to work towards, this preparation helped Heather’s team meet its goal of completing the upgrade to Vantagepoint in less than a year. “We spent a lot of time cleaning up our data and getting that to a good place,” explains Heather. “We took a lot of the upgrade tasks and considerations and put those into our plan and then we were fully prepared for go live about 11 months later.”
Better Communication and a More Connected View of Projects
With Vantagepoint, Biologics is already seeing huge benefits.
“Prioritizing our upgrade to Deltek Vantagepoint gave us the advantage of being ahead of the curve,” says Heather. “One of our biggest goals was to communicate and develop tools for communication internally—and Vantagepoint provided us that ability.”
And it’s not just better internal communication that Vantagepoint has given Biologics’ staff. They are also supported by a more unified view of projects and more meaningful data on their dashboards.
“Deltek Vantagepoint gives us a full view of the project lifecycle from beginning to end,” says Heather. “And we now have multiple tools for pursuit and project tracking all in one place. Leadership and project managers are inputting their information, from that initial contact with a client—to deliver usable data to provide dashboard reports.”
And with a great ERP tool, employees can now spend less time managing their projects, and more time delivering value to them as Heather explains: “Deltek Vantagepoint is greatly reducing our administrative time, preparing reports for executives, preparing information for our board members and also giving our employees the tools that they need to oversee projects and their resources in real time.”

“Our Deltek partner helped us the entire way, from our upgrade to post-upgrade,” Heather tells us. “They assisted us with the best practices and talked us through all of the considerations that we would need to make prior to upgrade.”

Biologics’ partner also helped the team prepare its data, helped ensure they were testing the right areas and navigate any issues in the preview environment, making sure everyone was ready for go live. “Their team of consultants, we couldn't have done it without them,” Heather adds. “They were a huge asset for us, and I consider them one of my working colleagues that I speak to every day.”
Heather also plans to use more of Vantagepoint’s features in the future—to automate even more processes and deliver even more value to colleagues. “We plan to take advantage of several of the accounting features in recent updates, such as automatic cash receipts with bank reconciliation and some revenue forecasting,” she says. “And we're really excited to explore custom proposals so that we can make our proposal process much more efficient.”
