What is Shop Floor Time?

Shop Floor Time is a best of breed application for manufacturers that has near real-time Costpoint integration. It is an on premises application and can integrate with the Costpoint Manufacturing Execution System (MES). You can do floor checks in Shop Floor Time too.

Shop Floor Time consists of a web application where supervisors can access the supervisor dashboard to view all of their employees and associated schedules. It has a web time clock and can also work with a  physical time clock.

Employees can use the web application to complete self-service scheduling requests and approvals. They can request paid time off (PTO) and can reply to supervisor’s requests for overtime.

Costpoint Shop Floor Time uses the time-clock capability to serve as a time tracker and attendance tool. It allows you to check the manufacturing order status, providing visibility to the timesheet and what is posted, the employees who worked on it, and for how long. Employees can sign into a single manufacturing order, stop labor, and sign out of a work order. Employees can sign on to do single, batch, and multi-manufacturing orders. The multiple manufacturing orders capability is for someone running a machine who needs to spread the time across jobs.

How Does Costpoint Shop Floor Time Work?

Shop Floor Time ties the “who and how long” data to the “when, where and how much” data in Costpoint.  It automates time tracking by employee, by project, or work order.

There are four pillars of data that move between Costpoint and Shop Floor Time:

1. Schedule - (9/80,4 10s, etc.) you set up as you desire
2. Shift – 1^st shift, 2^nd shift, etc.
3. Shift policy - determine how hours are exported and if shift premiums need to be added, tells Costpoint how to treat those hours
4. Policy Group – each employee belongs to a policy group. These groups house rules helping the system understand how to treat the time that is coming over
