Reimagining AEC Specifications Writing: AIA and Deltek Announce New Solution

June 17, 2021

The architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) industry is reshaping the way they build and manage projects, and they are implementing new technology to get there. In five years, 76% of architecture and engineering firms envision that their firms will be digitally advanced, yet today only 25% of firms are, according to the 42nd Annual Deltek Clarity Architecture and Engineering Study.

Technology plays a vital role in delivering projects, but bridging the various disciplines and systems involved in building projects can be challenging, resulting in silos of information and disconnected project teams. As a result, many firms struggle to finish projects on time – and in the black. According to the Deltek Clarity Report, 38% of projects are over budget and 35% are behind schedule.

One industry game-changer is Deltek Specpoint, a cloud-based software solution that will revolutionize how product manufacturers, architects and engineers collaborate. With a comprehensive online building products library to research and select products, combined with a design and publishing tool that includes one-click specifications, firms will write better specifications and produce project manuals faster, delivering even more successful projects.

Coming to the industry in late 2021, this all-in-one specification and design automation tool is the next generation version of AIA MasterSpec®. Long known as the industry-standard product research and specification resource , AIA MasterSpec developed by Deltek, provides thousands of firms unbiased, objective information on building products so they can write specifications faster while increasing accuracy. Firms like MEA Consulting Engineers utilize the solution to write specifications in less than 75% of the time that it used to take to create them from scratch.

Deltek and AIA have teamed up to deliver comprehensive online building product research and selection content, combined with a streamlined specification design and publishing tool pulling from decades of experience serving the industry’s specialized needs.

“Together with AIA, we are looking to the future and empowering companies on their digital transformation journey,” said Mike Corkery, President and CEO at Deltek. “We are very excited to continue our partnership with AIA and bring the power of Specpoint to market.”
