Maconomy Essentials 2026.1: One Release, Two Customer Journeys

With the release of Maconomy Essentials 2026.1, we continue the quarterly delivery cadence for Essentials customers, building on the progress made across Essentials 2025.3 and Essentials 2025.4. Essentials 2026.1 is a lighter release in terms of brand-new functionality, but it plays an important role in the broader Essentials programme. The value customers see from this release depends largely on where they are starting from.

Two Ways Customers Experience Essentials 2026.1
Already on the Quarterly Release Stream

(Essentials 2025.3 or Essentials 2025.4)

For customers already on the Essentials quarterly release stream, Essentials 2026.1 represents continuity and stability. You remain on a predictable cadence of low-risk updates that preserve business-as-usual processes, while incrementally improving quality, performance, and usability.

New functionality in Essentials 2026.1 is deliberately focused and targeted, with improvements in areas such as user management, reporting, and compliance. The larger functional gains—Web Client maturity, AI assistance, and Resource Management enhancements (if you have purchased our People Planner add-on)—were delivered in earlier Essentials releases and continue to be available as part of the cumulative stream.

Migrating to Essentials 2026.1 for the First Time

(from Maconomy 2.6.1)

For customers migrating from Maconomy 2.6.1, moving to Essentials 2026.1 is a step change. Although it is a single upgrade event, it delivers everything introduced across the Essentials quarterly release stream to date, including:

  • A fully cloud-native platform, enabling true quarterly updates A functionally complete Web Client, allowing you to fully access Maconomy from a browser and removing the need for our legacy Workspace Client
  • Built-in AI assistance (Ask Dela) for querying Maconomy data securely
  • A modernised People Planner experience for customers working with resource management For these customers, Essentials 2026.1 marks the transition to a modern, continuously evolving Maconomy platform.

Designed for Continuity, Built for the Future

All Essentials upgrades are designed to preserve existing processes while gradually introducing new capabilities. Customers receive advance notice, a dedicated test period, and ongoing support throughout the upgrade process.

The 2.6.x stream remains supported until late 2026 / early 2027, providing customers with sufficient time to complete their Web Client migration. Plan ahead to prepare for the Q4 2026 or Q1 2027 releases where Essentials customers will move to Essentials 2026.4 (3.x), at which point the legacy Workspace Client will be retired.

Whether you are continuing on the quarterly path or joining it for the first time, Essentials 2026.1 is another important step toward a more scalable, modern, and future-ready Maconomy experience.
