Features to Meet Payroll Needs during COVID-19

The world is changing fast and with it are changes to legislation that impact how construction companies run their businesses.

The Deltek + ComputerEase Product Task Force is dedicated to accelerating feature delivery so that construction companies have what they need in their software to operate in this environment. Our cross-functional team brings expertise and experience from many disciplines to get contractors the best solution to accommodate these constant and ever-changing circumstances.

In a span of a few weeks, the Product Task Force has built and delivered features to accommodate both the FFCRA (Families First Coronavirus Act) and CARES (Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security) Act in the Deltek + ComputerEase software and Payroll Services.

In addition to the features delivered, the Deltek + ComputerEase Product Task Force has developed and supplied training materials such as a dedicated Resource Center with training videos and manuals to guide contractors on how to use these features. For customers eligible for the FFCRA and CARES Act, these features are helping them navigate the changing payroll environment.

FFCRA Features

For private employers with fewer than 500 employees and for certain public employers, the FFCRA provides that employees be provided with paid sick leave and expanded family and medical leave to the extent an employee is unable to work (or telework) due to COVID-19 reasons outlined on DOL.gov and IRS.gov.

The FFCRA features in Deltek + ComputerEase allow construction businesses that are eligible and applicable to track the new pay types allowed under the new legislation. In addition, the features handle the proper taxing of these new pay types and the associated tax credits allowed.

Now contractors can track FFCRA pay specifically with the new FFCRA Report.

CARES Act Features

The CARES Act builds on prior COVID-19 legislation to provide more robust support to individuals and businesses to include tax policy changes. Contractors can now easily manage the deferral of the employer payroll tax liability per the new CARES Act legislation within Deltek + ComputerEase.

What’s Next

The Product Task Force is dedicated to being proactive with delivering features to accommodate the changing circumstances. However, in the event of changes with short notice (e.g. FFCRA and CARES Act), we are capable of accelerating feature delivery to get contractors what they need when they need it. We anticipate further changes, are already aware of upcoming changes (Q2 2020 941 Form), and are ready and able to address for the construction community.
