Onboarding Keeps the Good Times Rolling

Today is Fat Tuesday and many of us might be celebrating Mardi Gras with King Cakes and beignets in true New Orleans style. Here at HRsmart, we are a big fan of traditions and culture. Of course, we like to think of everything in HR terms, so we started thinking about some of the things in an employee's life cycle that can keep the good times rolling and start things off right by showing the employee the traditions and culture of an organization. New Orleans isn't the only place to have a deep-rooted culture with age-old traditions. Every company has them, but sometimes they fail to convey this to their new hires, leaving them to feel like somewhat of an outsider until they get to know the company better - that is if they don't leave first. Onboarding is one of the most important things you can do to improve employee retention, so stop masquerading around the office and get on board with onboarding! There are varying opinions when it comes to onboarding: either you don’t want it, you think it’s too expensive, or you may think it's simply too difficult to get started.

Onboarding is a special HR process and solution that saves time and improves productivity from day one, not to mention it shows your new hires the heart and soul of your company. How does this save time? Well, within HRsmart's onboarding tool, we are continuously updating it to remain in compliance with OFCCP rules and regulations as well as keeping up to date documents such as the I-9 forms! This takes the burden away from HR, allowing them to spend more time with the fun aspects of HR without the administrative burden.

Still thinking you are seeing more beads then you actually have? Here are some onboarding statistics from UrbanBound that you won’t be able to forget.

With onboarding as a part of your regular process and strategy, not only are you better positioning yourselves for the future, but you are able to uncover employee trends in the organization. The more proactive in implementing and training your employees with onboarding, the more you can benefit the company at large. Think about all the time you could be saving, enjoying the festivities for years to come, simply by implementing an onboarding system.

Laissez les bons temps rouler!
