A Look at Giving

The Many Ways Deltek Cares

Deltek employees around the globe traditionally end the year by supporting a range of important causes within their communities—but our giving doesn’t just happen at year-end! Throughout the year, #TeamDeltek proudly supports organizations that assist the next generation of technology leaders and foster health and well-being around the world, both through our #DeltekCares program and through employee-driven activities.

As a company, Deltek rallies around several core values, including integrity, collaboration and playing to win. These values shape how we relate not only to each other, but also to our communities—and they drive our understanding of the importance of giving back and involving all of Deltek Project Nation in our efforts.

Here’s a look at some of the causes we’ve been proud to support in 2019. You can learn more by visiting their websites and following them on social media.

Alay Pag-Asa
Each year, employees in our Makati, Philippines, office donate funds to support students in need through nonprofit Alay Pag-Asa, which works to support indigent children and their families. In 2019, employees funded the educational support of 17 elementary and high school students and three college students. Employees also hosted an activity to provide basic Microsoft Word training to participating students—and this November, two of our college scholars started internships with Deltek!

Barnekreftforeningen
Barnekreftforeningen (the Norwegian Children’s Cancer Society) is an organization that works to support children with cancer and their families run by volunteers who are parents of children affected by cancer. In lieu of receiving holiday gifts from the company, employees in Norway opted to make a donation in support of Barnekreftforeningen’s efforts to further cancer research and provide positive experiences for children in treatment for cancer.

Cancerfonden
Cancerfonden (the Swedish Cancer Society) is an organization that works to fund cancer research, share knowledge about cancer, and influence decision-makers. In lieu of receiving holiday gifts from the company, employees in Sweden donated funds to benefit the organization’s work.

Cash for Kids
Cash for Kids is Bauer Radio’s network of local charities, which operate across 22 areas around the U.K. and responds to the needs of children within those communities. In Nottingham, England, Deltek employees participated in a Christmas Jumper (Sweater) Party to raise financial and gift donations in support of the annual Cash for Kids Mission Christmas drive.

Operation Day’s Work
In Norway, Operation Day’s Work is a day of volunteerism administered by School Student Union of Norway in which high school students work for a day and donate their salaries to youth-related projects all over the world. This year, the Norwegian Operation Day’s Work raised funds in support of educational opportunities for young people in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Two participating students spent a day working at Deltek’s Oslo office to raise funds through this initiative.

Operation Gratitude
Operation Gratitude sends 300,000+ care packages a year to deployed troops, veterans, first responders, and wounded heroes and their caregivers. This year, #TeamDeltek said thank-you through an Operation Gratitude letter-writing campaign at our headquarters in Herndon, Virginia, to share our appreciation with those who have served.

Save the Children
Since Save the Children’s founding 100 years ago, the organization has worked to give children around the globe a healthy start in life, the opportunity to learn and protection from harm. Employees on our Nordics Team in Denmark, Norway and Sweden participated in Christmas Jumper Day—a fundraising event organized each year by Save the Children to further their critical emergency support for children in need. In addition to offering the opportunity for employees to wear their sassiest holiday jumpers (sweaters) to work, Deltek donated funds for every employee posing in their sweater for a photo.

The Foundation for Hospital Art
In 1984, The Foundation for Hospital Art (FFHA) was formed from the idea that art can help healing, and that anyone with a brush can help create. For over 30 years since then, FFHA has been placing murals in hospitals and medical facilities across the globe. At Deltek Insight 2019, attendees had the opportunity to participate in a #DeltekCares PaintFest benefitting FFHA—bringing comfort and hope to hospital patients through a hands-on painting activity.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
Dedicated to curing leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma, and other blood cancers, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is the world's largest nonprofit health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research and providing education and patient services. In 2019, #TeamDeltek once again participated in the LLS Light the Night Walks throughout the U.S. and Canada to raise funds and awareness for this important cause—and ultimately help LLS assist blood cancer patients and their families, support scientists, and advocate for government funding.

The U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots Program
Deltek is proud to support the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program, which annually collects new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December and distributes those toys as Christmas gifts to less fortunate children. Their toy collection and distribution campaigns unite community members in a common cause, ultimately fostering more connected communities and creating happy memories. In 2019, employees in our Portland, Oregon, office and attendees at our annual customer holiday party in Tysons Corner, Virginia, collected financial and toy donations in support of Toys for Tots.

Variety, The Children’s Charity
Variety, The Children’s Charity works to provide a future without limits for every child, regardless of their background or ability. Variety offers equipment and services dedicated to supporting children and children’s organizations in areas such as healthcare, well-being, mobility, independence, social inclusion, education and self-esteem. For the 11th consecutive year, employees at Deltek’s office in Woburn, Massachusetts, supported an annual children’s holiday party organized by the Boston chapter of Variety. About 270 underprivileged children, many with special needs, participated in the event, which provided a day at the movies to see “Frozen II,” enjoy lunch, and receive holiday treats from Santa.

World Wide Fund for Nature
Employees based in our Makati, Philippines, office partnered with the World Wide Fund for a Coastal Rehabilitation Day at Las Pinas-Paranaque Critical Habitat and Ecotourism Area (LPPCHEA). Deltek employees removed shoreline litter to help provide clean and healthy waters for area wildlife and the people that depend on them. The team also sorted collected waste to ensure its proper disposal or recycling. The activity produced around 10 kilos of gathered trash and a deepened awareness on climate change and waste management.

Year Up
Through our partnership, Year Up National Capital Region places interns at Deltek’s corporate headquarters in Herndon, Virginia, where they work across our business units, gaining valuable experience and, in turn, providing meaningful contributions to our team. Deltek began its partnership with Year Up in 2010 and since that time has worked with dozens of interns in various functional areas including IT, Customer Care and Marketing. In 2019, Deltek welcomed our 64th intern to the program. Approximately 27% of interns move on to entry-level positions within our organization.

65 Roses Golf Classic, Benefitting the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation
Across the country, 65 Roses Golf Classics are held each year to raise money and awareness for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, the world's leader in efforts to cure cystic fibrosis—a progressive, genetic disease that causes persistent lung infections and limits the ability to breathe. Held each summer near Deltek’s corporate headquarters, the 65 Roses Golf Classic, is chaired by a Deltek employee whose youngest daughter is currently living with this disorder.

Thanks to all of our employees and members of the broader #DeltekProjectNation community who have made our support for these important causes possible. We look forward to achieving even more together in 2020!
