Improving the customer experience and a new user interface (UI) were most assuredly the talk of the recent Deltek Costpoint Customer Town Hall webinar. Deltek product experts gave a detailed rundown of what customers are soon to see when using the Costpoint solution, as well as additional enhancements on the horizon, usability tips and tricks to improve day-to-day productivity, and customer support improvements.

New and Improved Costpoint UI

Deltek recently released a new Costpoint UI that sports a modern look and feel, as well as improved navigation for an overall better user experience (UX). The adaptive design paradigm allows users to do more in a single screen, while reducing time spent scrolling and clicking between tasks and subtasks windows. To help customers transition to the new UI, a temporary toggle feature to switch between the classic and new UIs will be available through early 2019.

To prepare for the UI changes, the Support Center features a variety of readiness materials, including a six-minute preview video and frequently asked questions. The Deltek Learning Zone is also available to help with transitioning users.

Costpoint Solution Enhancements

Earlier this year, Contract Management and updates to Resource Planning for Budgeting & Planning were released as Costpoint solution enhancements. Integrated with GovWin IQ, Costpoint Contract Management tracks everything from bid and proposal costs and digital contract management, to subcontractor management, project initiation and closeout.

The Resource Planning capability for Budgeting & Planning updates now allow users to search by skills and competencies, view resource utilization and build plans based on resources.

Usability Tips and Tricks

Customizing a user’s view in Costpoint can aid with productivity. For example, show/hide screen controls can reduce the amount of displayed fields based on a user’s needs. Also, the My Menu feature can fast track a user to the functions they use most often.

Users can even customize their toolbars. With the Global Toolbar, the inclusion of specific icons and the order in which they are display can be defined by the user. While, the Navigation Toolbar allows for toggling back and forth between open applications and screens.

What’s New with Time & Expense?

For the final quarter of 2018, Time & Expense will see a handful of improvements to the UI and UX, as well as the release of enhancements for the Expense Wizard. Some tweaks to the employee dashboard (UI) for Time & Expense will roll out before the end of the year, including one click access versus the existing desktop for Time & Expense 10. As for Expense Wizard updates, users will see improvements in the creation process that will better guide users through the entry, estimation, and submittal of expense authorizations and reports.

Additionally slated for 2019, a new native Time & Expense mobile application.

Customer Care Improvements

Three key themes emerged from Deltek’s 2017 Customer Experience Survey: support experience, product usability and expanded training. To address frustrations with the support experience, the Customer Care team has reimagined the customer experience and reduced the amount of handoffs encountered once a use case has been submitted. Additionally, the “Manage Cases” screen within the Deltek Support Center can more intuitively direct customers unsure of whom to contact to the correct support provider. Search features have also gone through a fine tuning, and now include an expanded library of archived help articles.
