If you’ve been following along on Deltek for Projects, you already know that our goal is to share thought leadership, industry insights and best practices around Project & Portfolio Management. But we realized… a lot of our partners are putting out some really great articles, too! So what better way to introduce you to their expertise then by doing a monthly round-up of tips from our community? Read on for this month’s tips on project controls, scheduling and agile, and be sure to check back on or around the first of each month for more.

Tip#1: Find that “just right” project control resource.
Finding the right tools for your business can be far easier said than done. Buying just any old software won’t solve your project management issues – or make you compliant if you’re dealing with contracts that have a requirement for Earned Value Management (EVM). So how can you find the “just right” project control resources that can scale with your needs while also meeting all of your business objectives? Tip #2: Agile isn’t just for software.
Software developers talk all the time about agile development. But did you know that agile can also be leveraged on large construction projects? Check out this blog post from Ten Six to learn more about why it’s not only possible, but important. Read the Blog>>

Tip #3: Project controls is more than just estimating or scheduling.
So, this tip is actually from one of Deltek’s customers, Derek Graham, a “boots-on-the-ground” Scheduler with Pizzarotti IBC. In this post he dives into the details about why project controls means more than just estimating or scheduling. If you’re in the business of project management, I highly encourage you to check it out. View the Full Post>>

Tip #4: Having a high quality scheduling tool, doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll create high quality schedules.
There are a ton of scheduling tools out there on the market. And just because you’ve invested in a “high quality” tool doesn’t automatically mean that you’ll be able to create high quality schedules. That is, unless the tool can actually educate you on what it takes to build an excellent schedule…Check out this blog from Ten Six around schedule analytics and the reasons why Deltek Acumen is different from the other tools on the market.
