MasterSpec® and Beyond!

The phrase "Guide Specifications" for most architects typically results in an association with MasterSpec®, and rightly so, as it is the leading content resource for the AEC industry. However, Deltek Specification Solutions offers additional guide specifications to assist customers beyond MasterSpec, leveraging both automation and integration through our e-SPECS software solution.

The MasterSpec Full Length, Short Form, and Outline libraries are available in database format for use within the e-SPECS suite. This content delivery format leverages our patented checklist technology to edit each section and facilitates integration with Building Information Modeling (BIM). 

The SpecText Full Length library is available for use in e-SPECS. Integrated into database format in Q1 2019; this guide specification is utilized for horizontal construction projects with a concentration of sections for Infrastructure, Civil, Water, and Wastewater disciplines. The content and database is updated on a quarterly basis.

The United Facilities Guide Specifications (UFGS) content is required for all Department of Defense (DoD) projects. Traditionally this content has been edited in SpecsIntact; a program provided by NASA, however this is now available in an e-SPECS database for more streamlined editing via a checklist rather than the SpecsIntact Editor. Options to tailor sections is maintained by selecting Project Criteria tags at project creation.

Customers can leverage the integration capability within e-SPECS to automate the inclusion of sections from the information in their Revit models, which is a requirement by some government agencies.  

Additional features include the ability to author new sections with a UFGS compliant template and export the required file structure to package and prepare required reports within the SpecsIntact environment.

The Product MasterSpec database is automatically installed with e-SPECS and provides checklist automation for customized MasterSpec sections by manufacturer. Product MasterSpec is a program that allows manufacturers to license sections from the MasterSpec libraries. Deltek’s team of professional specifiers work closely with representatives from the manufacturer to determine where their specification fits and provides guidelines to ensure the product meets Deltek’s high standards.
