Winner: Atos with Gosport Independent Panel
In June 2018, the Gosport Independent Panel concluded that 456 lives had been shortened, and probably a further 200, by routine inappropriate use of opioids at Gosport War Memorial Hospital. With vital expertise and insight from previous inquiries, Atos played a central role in enabling the Panel to deliver its work: extreme sensitivity was vital, combined with robust solutions and tight governance in the face of growing amounts of evidence. In 2001, a young James Cooper used UCAS to find and gain admission to the right undergraduate course for him, digital business and e-commerce at Nottingham University. 17 years later, it was UCAS that found itself at a moment of transition, and James was able to return the favour by leading Gate One’s overhaul of the charity’s corporate strategy.
